North Smithfield
North Smithfield is part of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, so it’s not much of a surprise to find out that the community is full of history. It has historic homes, historic mills (some of which have been converted to apartments), and historic theaters, but there are lots of modern conveniences thrown in the mix, as well.

Dining and Shopping
When you start looking at dining options in North Smithfield, chances are that you’ll run across Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery. The farm has been around since 1914, and today you can buy bottled-on-site milk, cheese, ice cream, specialty cakes, hermits, pies, and what some consider to be the best Boston Cream Pie in the region. This is “buy local” at its best, but if you’re looking for more typical restaurants, there’s a little something for everyone in North Smithfield. There are chain restaurants (Texas Roadhouse, Subway, Buffalo Wild Wings, Denny’s, etc.), and there are local places for Thai, American, Italian, Japanese, and pizza. There’s also Goodwin Bros. Farm Stand for when you want to cook at home, and when it comes to shopping, there’s no shortage of that either. There’s The Ski Shop Plus for all you skiers and snowboarders, plus Walmart, Lowe’s, music stores, consignment shops, pharmacies, and hardware stores, too.
Parks and Recreation
The Blackstone River Bikeway passes through the very northeastern corner of North Smithfield, so if you’re a walker, runner, or biker, it’s a great way to see the area. And if you’re looking for city parks, there’s Pacheco Park (tennis courts, ball fields, basketball courts, and playgrounds), Centennial Park (trails, woods, picnic spots, and water views of Slatersville Reservoir and its dams), North Smithfield Wildlife Marsh, and Fort Wildlife Refuge (an Audubon park known for hiking and beaver dams).
Fun Stuff to Do
There’s a pretty wide range of activities to be found in North Smithfield, but one of the most historic is the Rustic Tri View Drive-In, Rhode Island’s last drive-in movie theater. April through September, the 1950’s-era destination shows double features, and if you have a carload of people, it’s actually a pretty cheap night out! Commute
Route 146 cuts through North Smithfield and I-295 is just to the south, so if you need to get anywhere along those roads, your commute could be pretty straightforward.
