Lincoln is just to the north of Providence, and this community of 21,000 people is full of parks, history, businesses, and entertainment options. There’s no shortage of things to do, and with its location being so close to both Providence and I-95, it’s a great spot for both commuting and simply enjoying what the area has to offer.

Fun Stuff To Do
Lincoln is part of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, so if you’re interested in visiting the National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places, you’re in luck! In Saylesville, you have one of the oldest Quaker meeting houses in New England and a preserved area featuring an old mill village. In Albion, you have a waterfall right downtown, a historic district around the old mill, and a private country club for golf, tennis, and swimming. And, you also have the Great Road Historic District, which despite its short length (.6 miles) offers lots to see, including the Eleazer Arnold House (a stone-ender now run by Historic New England and open for tours on the weekend in summer and fall) and the Hearthside House Museum. The Hearthside House was named the 2017 “Best Historical Experience” in New England by Yankee Magazine, and it has tours and events scheduled throughout the year, with everything from a traditional English fox hunt (minus the fox) to afternoon tea to Christmas tours.
Oh, and if historical sites don’t interest you, there are also pool halls, cocktail bars, and Twin River Casino, which has gambling, shows, and dining galore.
Parks and Recreation
One of the most popular parks in the Providence area is Lincoln Woods State Park, which is in, you guessed it, Lincoln. It’s only about 10 minutes north of downtown Providence, and it offers everything from boating, swimming, and fishing in Olney Pond to picnicking, hiking, equestrian trails, mountain biking, and bouldering. The trails offer lots of paths to wander through the woods, and in fall, the foliage makes it well worth a visit.
If you’re into biking, don’t forget the Blackstone Valley Bikeway, which is a 10-mile path that goes along the Blackstone River and Canal, and if you’re looking for a nice walk in a park, Chase Farm is another popular destination. It has fields, woods, a pond, and lots of dogs enjoying the space. And if nature is what you’re looking for, Lincoln has its own preserve run by The Nature Conservancy — Lime Rock Preserve.
Commute
Lincoln is just outside Providence and very close to I-95, I-295, and Route 146, so you’d have lots of options for your commute. Plus, if you work for Amica or the Community College of Rhode Island Flanagan Campus, you’d have a short drive!
