Schools
The East Greenwich School District is consistently rated as one of the top districts in the state, and it includes six public schools — two for K-3, two for 4-6, one middle school, and one high school. And speaking of the high school, it received a Silver medal by U.S. News & World Report.
Dining and Shopping
When it comes to restaurants, the small town of East Greenwich really packs a punch. You’ve got Indian, American, Mexican, Japanese, sandwiches, seafood, diners, and pizza. You’ve got an Italian restaurant in an old post office, you have gluten-free cupcakes over at Silver Spoon Bakery, and you have a local coffee shop called MainStreet Coffee. And did we mention the homemade ice cream over at Clementine’s? They’ve even got something on the menu just for dogs!
And Main St. is packed with shops, too. For the outdoor enthusiasts, there are ski, skateboard, and snowboard shops. For errands, there’s a mechanic, a tailor, drug stores, and a natural market. Entertainment
It’s a little surprising how much there is to do in a town with a population of only around 13,000. If you’re into military history, you should check out the Varnum Armory Museum for its collection of guns, cannons, and other weapons. If you’re more into engineering, the New England Wireless & Steam Museum could be of interest. But if music is more your scene, the Greenwich Odeum is where you can watch music documentaries, see jazz and folk musicians, and check out some cover bands, among other things.
Parks and Recreation
East Greenwich has a few parks, but the biggest park is in nearby Warwick — Goddard Memorial State Park. Goddard is on the other side of Greenwich Cove from downtown (it’s less than a 10 minute drive), and it’s got stables, a golf course, trails, and a beach. In town, though, there’s Scalloptown Park (which is great for walks and picnics) and a harbor that includes 110 mooring permits and a dinghy rack.
